Dr Aeesha Malik works both in the NHS as a Paediatric Ophthalmic Surgeon and at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) working on projects to reduce avoidable blindness in children in low and middle-income countries(LMICs). She has a breadth of clinical, public health and research experience in low and middle-income countries, and has worked on national eye care policy while a Clinical Advisor at the UK Department of Health and on global health policy with WHO.

Her main interests are in improving global child health focusing on health systems and health policy. She currently leads two main projects; one working to integrate eye care into the child health systems and the second to improve care for premature babies by improving eye care services for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).
